WHEREAS a free and independent media is vital to the health of a polity, and
WHEREAS the powers and personages in any government need forthright criticism so they do not start to believe they are absolute monarchs, but
WHEREAS certain persons instead want a servile and syncophantic media to perpetually praise their latest and least ideas on the rôle of the provinces to the central government, and
WHEREAS certain persons think that proper criticism needs to be responded with by hot screaming and flame-driven yelling or
cold whispers and icy sarcasm, in a word, different types of abuse, and
WHEREAS certain persons also think they they should not be satirized in any way, whether by poetry, prose, or puppets,
THEREFORE the Ziu roundly condemns President Vladimir Putin for jailing Vladimir Gusinsky, denounces him for his government
