This election was conducted by the Fiovan Secretary of State, Éovart Andrinescu, and polls closed earlier than the national deadline, on December 24. Due to this mismatch, and the fact that no mailers informing voters of the election were sent, turnout was extremely low (27%) and the result was challenged by certain voters who felt disenfranchised. While the election was found to be legal, it was agreed that Senator-elect Schivă would resign to allow for a "re-run" special election to take place at the next General Election.
